Tawakkalna Passes 30 Billion Transactions, and Your Customers Can Check Your Commercial Registration and Invoices in It

The short answer: On October 10, 2026, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) announced through the Saudi Press Agency that the Tawakkalna app has passed 30 billion transactions since its 2020 launch, averaging 88 million a day, and now brings together more than 1,800 services from 380 government, private and non-profit entities. What matters for your business is that customers can use the same app to look up your commercial registration, check whether your online store is authenticated, and verify your e-invoice. Check those three things yourself this week, before a customer does. And if you offer a service people need every day, learn SDAIA's conditions for private companies that want to be inside Tawakkalna.

What do the Tawakkalna numbers say?

According to SDAIA, Tawakkalna has more than 36.7 million registered users and more than 2.1 million daily active users. Its digital wallet holds more than 800 categories of official documents and digital ID cards, which have been viewed more than 3.6 billion times, and its notification system has delivered more than 2.1 billion messages.

At a session of the LEAP 26 conference on September 1, 2026, the director of SDAIA's National Information Center said the app had averaged more than 4.4 billion transactions a month over the previous six months, with more than 13.3 million monthly active users, and that the ambition for 2030 is zero repeated information and zero paper. In June 2026 alone, 40 government, private and non-profit entities added 160 new services to the app.

In practical terms, your customers are used to getting things done and checking things on their phones, and to finding official documents in one wallet instead of asking someone for them. Whatever they find there about your business is now part of their first impression of it.

Three Tawakkalna services your customers can use to check your business

On October 2, 2026, the Saudi Press Agency listed the services Tawakkalna offers to make commercial dealings more trustworthy. Three of them concern every business that sells to the public, and SPA said they help users verify information before they deal with someone:

  • Commercial registration lookup from the Ministry of Commerce.
  • Authenticated online store lookup from the Saudi Business Center.
  • E-invoice validity check from the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA).

So the customer who hesitates before transferring money to a store they do not know, and the accountant reviewing an invoice from a new supplier, both have an official way to check from their phone. The question for you is: what will they find when they look you up?

How do you make sure what they find is right?

  1. Commercial registration: make sure your registration is active and its details are current: activities, trade name, national address and contact details. The Ministry of Commerce offers sole proprietorships an annual confirmation of commercial registration data through the Saudi Business Center platform. It requires an active registration, is completed instantly, costs 500 riyals, and lets you update activities, e-commerce details, the national address and contact details.
  2. Online store: since April 2023, the Business Platform of the Saudi Business Center has been the only platform the Ministry of Commerce approves for authenticating online stores, replacing the Maroof platform, and store bank accounts must be linked. If you sell through a website or a social media account and have not authenticated it, a customer who looks it up will not find it listed as authenticated. Search for your own store in the service, and make sure the link and bank account shown are the ones your customers actually deal with.
  3. E-invoice: ZATCA's detailed e-invoicing guideline defines the QR code as a code read by a smart device camera to validate electronic invoices and notes. In Phase 2, a simplified tax invoice must carry a QR code compliant with the phase requirements and be given to the buyer immediately in print, or electronically if both parties agree. Take a real invoice from your point of sale and another from your sales system, and scan each with ZATCA's service in Tawakkalna. If the code does not read, or the details shown do not match the invoice, talk to your e-invoicing provider before your customers notice.

Can your company offer its own service inside Tawakkalna?

Yes, with conditions. On July 20, 2025, SDAIA launched a technical sandbox for Tawakkalna and began accepting applications from a first group of private-sector companies. The idea is that a company tests its service with real users in a secure technical environment and measures its quality and fit with user-experience standards; at the time, the app reached more than 34 million users. Applications are assessed against specific criteria and controls, and those SDAIA announced include:

  • A valid commercial registration and the necessary licenses.
  • Compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Adherence to governance policies.
  • Service content aligned with national values.
  • Arabic as the primary language of the service.

SDAIA's announcement gave the registration link as partners.tawakkalna.sa/privatesector. It did not open for us when we wrote this article, so try it yourself and check Tawakkalna's official accounts for whether applications are open before you build a plan around it.

Private companies already have a precedent in the app: in July 2021, the General Entertainment Authority and SDAIA signed an agreement to link ticketing providers approved by the Authority to Tawakkalna, so tickets a user buys appear in the app and the app is accepted for entry to entertainment events. In other words, the route in may also run through the regulator of your sector.

Before you apply: what to prepare

This is our practical advice, not one of SDAIA's conditions:

  • Pick one recurring service: an appointment, a booking, a ticket or an order status that customers come back to more than once. A national app is not the place for your whole product catalogue.
  • Get your system ready to integrate: a service inside a national platform means your system exchanges data automatically and securely, not through a file someone sends by hand. If your data still lives in scattered spreadsheets, start there.
  • Write the service in Arabic first: the name, description, error messages and notifications, because Arabic is the primary language in the sandbox criteria.
  • Ask for as little data as possible: every extra field you request is something you must protect, and a reason for the user to hesitate.
  • Set up support before launch: reaching millions of users means more questions and complaints, so decide who answers and when.

If your system already connects to other government platforms, read this alongside our piece on integrating your systems with Saudi government platforms.

The Origami view

We read the 30 billion figure as a change in customer habit before it is a technical milestone. Saudi customers now check things on their phones in seconds: the registration, the store, the invoice. A business whose official data is out of date, whose store is not authenticated, or whose invoice will not scan, loses trust before the conversation starts.

The lesson for Saudi businesses is that official data has become part of the customer experience, not an administrative file updated once a year. When we build a system for a business, we tie invoicing to sales and make sure the invoice comes out right the first time, because the customer will scan it. Getting into Tawakkalna is a later step for those who have finished these basics, not a substitute for them.

Takeaways

  • Tawakkalna has passed 30 billion transactions at an average of 88 million a day, with 36.7 million registered users and more than 1,800 services from 380 entities.
  • Your customers can use the app to look up your commercial registration and online store and to verify your e-invoice.
  • This week: review your registration data, authenticate your store through the Business Platform, and scan two invoices from your system with ZATCA's service.
  • In July 2025, SDAIA opened a sandbox for private companies, with conditions that include a valid commercial registration and Arabic as the primary language.
  • Before applying: one recurring service, a system ready to integrate, minimal data, and support in place.

A Ninety-Day Roadmap for Digitizing Your Factory: Where to Start and in What Order

You now know the accuracy gap, scanning, the production order, the reorder point, lot traceability and the invoice link. What remains is the piece most projects fall on: sequence. Doing everything at once is the fastest route to failure, and buying a system before cleaning up item codes is the second fastest. Part seven, the final part of the Digitizing the Factory and the Warehouse series, arranges the work into three thirty-day stages, and defines the numbers you capture before you begin and the indicators you run operations with afterwards.
