Anthropic did not raise Claude's prices. What changed on October 30, 2026 is the plan names and the way the $200 plan's limits are described: Max 5x is now called Max and still costs $100 a month, and Max 20x is now Ultra and still costs $200. The official pricing page now describes Ultra as 10 times Pro's usage every week, with no five-hour limit for verified accounts and $200 a month in API credits, against $100 on Max. Pro stays at $20 a month, or $17 with annual billing. In riyals, Max is about SAR 375 and Ultra about SAR 750 a month. The 10 in Ultra's description is a weekly limit, not an announced cut to the price or the plan.
What did Anthropic announce on October 30?
In a post on Claude's official X account on October 30, 2026, Anthropic announced new names for its two Max plans: Max 5x became Max, and Max 20x became Ultra. It said Max is still $100 a month and Ultra is still $200, and that subscribers need to do nothing. It added that it is removing the five-hour limit for verified Ultra accounts, starting that day with most existing subscribers.
The Ultra plan page in the Help Center confirms that Max 20x subscribers moved to Ultra automatically, with no price change, and that Ultra includes 10 times Pro's usage every week. The Max plan page says Max includes 5 times Pro's usage every five hours and every week.
Did the $200 plan drop from 20x to 10x?
The answer depends on telling apart two kinds of limit in Claude. According to the usage limits page, paid plans have a session limit that resets every five hours from your first message, and a weekly limit that resets at a fixed time each week. Usage in claude.ai, Claude Code and the desktop app all counts toward the same allowance.
The new pricing page puts the two limits in separate rows. In the every-5-hours row, Pro gets 1x and Max 5x, and Ultra shows no five-hour limit. In the every-week row, Pro gets 1x, Max 5x and Ultra 10x. So the 10 describes the week, while the 20 was part of the old plan name. Neither the announcement nor the Ultra page mentions any cut in usage, and Windows Report wrote in its coverage of the announcement that weekly limits remain unchanged.
Anthropic does not publish absolute limits, such as a number of messages or hours, so nobody outside your account can compare the old weekly limit with the new one precisely. The only reference is the Settings > Usage page in your account; watch it for two weeks before you decide.
What does a verified Ultra account mean?
The Ultra page says Anthropic verifies Ultra accounts automatically to prevent fraud and abuse, using factors such as account and payment history. Until an account is verified, a temporary limit applies, and it is removed automatically with nothing for you to do. Verifying your phone number at checkout is a separate step and does not remove that limit.
To check your account, open Settings > Usage: if there is no Current session bar, your account is verified. Even when verified, Ultra keeps a weekly limit across all models and a separate weekly limit for Fable, and Anthropic reserves the right to add weekly or monthly caps when needed.
Monthly API credits: $100 on Max and $200 on Ultra
Since October 7, 2026, Max and Team plans have included monthly credits for using Claude through the API, and with the new names Ultra's credit is double Max's. According to the Claude Platform documentation:
- Amount: $100 a month on Max and $200 on Ultra. On Team, each Standard seat gets $20 and each Premium seat $100, capped at $500 per team.
- Covers: the Claude API, Claude Managed Agents, the Claude Agent SDK and the playground in the Console.
- Does not cover: Claude Code, or extra usage inside the Claude apps.
- Conditions: you can claim it after 7 days on the plan, by linking a Claude Console organization where you are an Owner, Admin or Billing member.
- Expiry: it ends with each billing cycle and does not roll over to the next month.
In other words, the credit helps a company that builds an app or an agent on Claude; it does not add hours in Claude Code or in chat.
Claude plan prices today, in dollars and riyals
These are the prices shown on the official pricing page, converted to riyals at the fixed rate of 3.75:
| Plan | Monthly price | In riyals | Five-hour limit | Weekly limit | Monthly API credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | SAR 0 | Limited | Limited | None |
| Pro | $20, or $17 billed annually | SAR 75, or SAR 63.75 | 1x | 1x | None |
| Max | $100 | SAR 375 | 5x Pro | 5x Pro | $100 |
| Ultra | $200 | SAR 750 | None for verified accounts | 10x Pro | $200 |
Fable is included in Max and Ultra up to half of the weekly limit, while on Pro it is paid with separate usage credits, as we explained in our article on Fable in the Max plan. Note too that annual Pro is paid up front at $200, the same as one month of Ultra.
Which plan fits your company?
- Pro for people who use Claude a few hours a day and do not mind waiting for the limit to reset now and then.
- Max for people who work with Claude all day, in writing, analysis or Claude Code, and often hit Pro's limit.
- Ultra for people whose long tasks, such as extended coding sessions, keep getting cut off by the five-hour limit, or whose company uses the API and can put the $200 monthly credit to work.
- Team for teams of 2 to 150 people: a Standard seat is $25 a month, or $20 billed annually, and a Premium seat is $125, or $100 billed annually, with 5 times the usage of a Standard seat.
- Enterprise for large companies: $20 per seat per month, billed annually, with a 20-seat minimum, plus usage at API rates.
Our practical advice: Max and Ultra are plans for individuals, as their Help Center pages state. If more than one person in your company works with Claude, compare the cost of Team with the total of individual subscriptions before upgrading anyone to Ultra.
