Claude Duet by Anthropic: An Agent That Watches Your Inbox and Finishes Tasks While You Are Away. Does It Work in Saudi Arabia?

Claude Duet is a new Anthropic app in which Claude works as an agent that takes the first step: it sends you a morning brief of what matters in your email and calendar, checks your connected apps every few hours, finishes the tasks you give it even when you are away from your device, and asks for your approval before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything. Anthropic announced it on October 21, 2026 as a waitlisted research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the United States only, running on Claude Opus 5.5. A business owner in Saudi Arabia cannot try it today, but can prepare their account and connected apps now.

What exactly is Claude Duet?

According to Anthropic's announcement, Claude Duet is a standalone app that comes to you with what needs your attention, completes what you ask, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf. You talk to it by text or voice in one continuing thread, and it decides how much effort each job needs. Here is how it differs from a regular Claude chat:

What can it do for a small business owner?

Anthropic says Claude Duet is built mainly around work, and its examples run from simple admin to bigger jobs:

  • Morning brief: it looks across your email and calendar, picks what most needs your attention, and drafts replies for you to review.
  • Ongoing watch: it checks your connected accounts every few hours and messages you only when something needs you.
  • Admin tasks: scheduling meetings, or pulling together a brief on a company before your 2 pm meeting.
  • Bigger tasks: dashboards that combine dozens of tools, financial or sales forecasts, prototypes and web apps.
  • Business purchases: it buys through Link, Stripe's digital wallet, or Shop Pay from Shopify, after confirming the item with you and once you approve the spend.

It works with more than 6,000 connectors and plugins, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign, Calendly, Stripe and Shopify, according to the product page. It carries over your memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account, so setup is short. To see what is in the connector store and what to check before linking your data, read our article on Claude Marketplace.

What will it not do without your permission?

This is the key point for any company considering an agent with access to its email and accounts. The rules come down to three levels, per the official getting-started guide:

LevelExamples
Does it on its ownReading and summarising, drafting, working on tasks in the background
Shows you and waits for approvalSending a message, making a payment, signing a document, deleting anything
Off-limits even with your approvalTrading securities, moving money between accounts, accessing someone else's account

On protection, Anthropic says Claude Duet never directly sees your passwords or sign-in tokens, because it handles credentials with the same design used for Claude Managed Agents. It added a dedicated classifier that rejects requests to share the strictest tier of information, such as credit card numbers and government ID, alongside defences against prompt injection, external penetration testing, and bug bounty coverage.

What does it cost and who can use it?

  • Plans: included in Pro and Max at no extra cost during the preview. Per the pricing page, Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually ($200 up front), and Max starts at $100 a month.
  • Usage: it draws on the same plan limits at the same rate as chats, and its background checks count too. That is why it checks every few hours rather than nonstop.
  • Starter bonus: new users get one full limit reset, covering both the five-hour session and the weekly limit, available until November 30, 2026.
  • Platforms: a standalone app on iOS and Android, and on the web at claude.ai.
  • Not yet: Team and Enterprise plans are not included.

Does Claude Duet work in Saudi Arabia?

Not yet. The getting-started guide requires three things together: a Pro or Max plan, a US-based Claude account, and an invitation from the waitlist. It states plainly that Claude Duet is available in the US only during the research preview, and that invitations go out in waves, so joining does not guarantee a date. Claude itself is offered in Saudi Arabia, which is on Anthropic's list of supported countries, and Anthropic treats use from inside an unsupported region as unsupported even for otherwise supported customers. Anthropic has not announced when Duet will expand beyond the US, so we do not recommend working around the requirement with a US account: you would be risking the Claude account you rely on today.

How can you prepare now?

  1. Review the connectors on your account: Duet inherits everything you have connected in Claude, so disconnect any app you would not want an agent working on its own to see.
  2. Keep sensitive accounts apart: do not link your bank or personal email to the same account you want the agent to work from.
  3. Write approval rules for your team: who approves outside messages, who approves payments, and the spending ceiling.
  4. Try the idea with what exists: long background tasks are available today in Claude Cowork, so start there with a small task.
  5. Watch your plan usage: background checks eat from the same limit, so leave headroom before relying on it daily.

What are the limits of this version?

Anthropic admits this is an early version: it may misread a thread or miscalibrate what is urgent, and it can miss something that arrives between check-ins. Personal errands such as booking tickets are weaker than work tasks. You cannot watch it work in its browser or take over the browser. As CNBC reported, Duet goes up against Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots; we explained earlier what OpenAI Dots does in your company if you want to compare.
